How Do Objects Move In The Solar System?
The Solar System:
•In a solar system (Fr. system solairè), objects move around a central star. Ou
r sun is the star at the center of the solar system. All the other objects in our solar system put together are not as big as the sun. The word solar refers to the sun.
•Our sun is a huge ball of burning gases. These hot gases give off energy in all directions. The sun provides almost all the energy in our solar system. This energy helps heat Earth and gives us light.
•There are blotches or dark areas on the sun’s surface called sunspots (Fr. tache solaire). They are cooler than the rest of the surface. Other interesting parts of the sun's surface are the solar flares (Fr. eruption solaire) that shoot out from the area near sunspots. These solar flares are also called prominences.
