An important thing to say is that in our Web site we are describing the natural water cycle, which is how water moves on Earth without human influences. Humans have a great deal of influence on water systems worldwide, so any discussion of the water cycle nowadays should include how people are involved. The water cycle diagram as we show it here does not take people into account, although people are discussed in some of the summary sections.
